Jamaican Entries Sought For BlueCat Screenplay Competition

Jamaican film makers and writers are being invited to submit their screenplays to the 2011 edition of the annual BlueCat Screenplay Competition. The ultimate winner this year will receive US$10,000, and four finalists will receive $2,000 each. The best screenplay from outside the USA, Canada and the UK will be awarded the Joplin Award and will receive $1,000.

Take advantage of the following Early Bird Deadlines in order to receive your feedback before the fall:
1. All screenplays submitted in the first week, by Midnight June 22, will receive their feedback by Wednesday, July 6.
2. Every entrant who submits by August 1 is eligible for our Title contest (where three scripts will be awarded $250, as voted on by current BlueCat entrants).
3. All screenplays submitted AFTER June 22 will receive their analyses starting September 1.

One writer will also be awarded a live, staged reading with professional local actors at Screenplay Live in Rochester, New York, as part of the 360|365 George Eastman House Film Festival. The prize includes travel, hotel and a $250 stipend.
