Jamaican film makers and writers are being invited to submit their screenplays to the 2011 edition of the annual BlueCat Screenplay Competition. The ultimate winner this year will receive US$10,000, and four finalists will receive $2,000 each. The best screenplay from outside the USA, Canada and the UK will be awarded the Joplin Award and will receive $1,000.
Take advantage of the following Early Bird Deadlines in order to receive your feedback before the fall:
1. All screenplays submitted in the first week, by Midnight June 22, will receive their feedback by Wednesday, July 6.
2. Every entrant who submits by August 1 is eligible for our Title contest (where three scripts will be awarded $250, as voted on by current BlueCat entrants).
3. All screenplays submitted AFTER June 22 will receive their analyses starting September 1.
One writer will also be awarded a live, staged reading with professional local actors at Screenplay Live in Rochester, New York, as part of the 360|365 George Eastman House Film Festival. The prize includes travel, hotel and a $250 stipend.
